Sagrantino di Montefalco DOCG: The name seems to come from the fact that since the Middle Ages the Franciscan friars began to produce a sweet wine, devoted to religious rites. Today it is produced in a relatively small wine region with, at its center, the hill town of Montefalco, made exclusively from the Sagrantino variety from which the wine takes its name. Even today, it is produced in two different types: dry (secco) and sweet (passito). It has a minimum alcoholic strength of 13,00% and a minimum aging process of 30 months. Ruby-violet in colour, with a delicate fragrance and a robust tannin, it has a dry and harmonious taste and lends itself well to further aging; it goes very well with red meats, game and aged cheeses, complex dishes made with wild boar, lamb, mushrooms or truffles.
